I think one of the most important steps you can take when starting a business or chasing a creative dream is investing in yourself. You’d be surprised how many people shy away from the idea of betting on themselves. So many girls will forgo choosing to invest even a small amount of money into growing their businesses (trust me, I know—I’ve been there). I’m here to tell you that believing in yourself and that you can achieve what you set out to do is one of the greatest mindset shifts you can make. The mentality of supporting your dreams and believing that you can make that investment back and more is everything.
Think of it this way: if you’re a photographer, how do you expect your business to grow if you don’t invest in new equipment? Or if you’re starting a product-based business, how do you expect to grow your customer base if you’re afraid of trying out Facebook ads? I know it can seem scary at times to bet on yourself, but making positive investments, like purchasing new equipment, hiring a web designer or furthering your education can make a huge impact on your ability to achieve those dreams you’ve been waiting on. That catalyst of change can be one of the best decisions you ever make for yourself. You’d probably also be surprised how quickly you can make back that investment too when you’re choosing to invest in the right tools for success, no matter what industry you work in.
One of the greatest investments I made for my business was purchasing the Bucketlist Bombshells Work Online + Travel the World Course. This course helped me grow my freelance business and discover new ways to strengthen my skills, find a new client base and better communicate my strategy and services. I specialize in PR services: ranging from copywriting to consulting to social media management. If you’re looking to get started in the freelancing world or grow an existing freelance business, I can’t recommend this course enough. As a digital nomad myself, I’ve always been a huge advocate for remote work. Why would you want to sit in an office all day when you don’t have to?
The Work Online + Travel the World Course enables you to build a location-independent business that you’re passionate about while giving you the freedom to travel and work from anywhere in the world. If you’re someone like me who dreads commuting, sitting in the same cube day in and day out and feeling controlled on when you can or can’t travel, this course is a great opportunity to build the foundations for a business that lets you live life on your own terms.
Now that you have a general idea of what this Bucketlist Bombshells course is all about, let’s dive into the juicy stuff. The course is structured into six different lesson modules that guide you through the freelancing process and all the ins and outs of starting a business. Each module includes easy to digest videos that guide you through each step of the process. After watching each video, you’ll have a clear action step to take and will complete workbook pages to flesh out your ideas and make progress towards your goals. Each video also includes helpful links to resources that will help you on your freelancing journey. The workbook is so helpful for tracking your progress and brainstorming.
Productivity and Goal Setting
The “Getting Started” guide before you dive into the full course helps establish your goals and accountability. This mini-guide sets you up for success so that you’re continually making progress in the course and growing your skills and business. I love that this module helps you erase doubts that you may have about your potential and replaces them with positivity and a game plan.
Module 1: Define Your Online Skills
This first module is so helpful if you want to start a service-based business but are unsure about where your skillset lies. The lesson plan guides you through defining your Myers-Briggs personality type, reflecting back on your soft skills and workplace habits, and lets you explore different career paths that are well suited to your personality and skills. Even though I already had a freelance business prior to taking this course and knew what my strengths were going in, this section was still quite helpful in discovering soft skills that I hadn’t explored before.
The module then narrows down on your passions: the past projects, education and jobs that excited you the most. Reflecting back on past work experiences you enjoyed is crucial in defining your hard skills and what passions you should be pursuing in your career and your business. I love that this section uses mind-mapping; this is such a creative tool for exploring new ideas and potential opportunities where you can apply both your skills and interests. Ultimately, this lesson enables you to find your ideal industry and specialization for your online business, whether that’s becoming a virtual assistant, a social media manager or a number of other creative roles.
Module 2: How to Rock the Freelancing World
This module helps you define your freelancing services and narrow down 3-5 online skills you have to offer. I found this module to be extremely helpful because it guides you through the best freelancing platforms to use to build your client base. Prior to using this course, I always struggled to find quality freelancer websites where clients aren’t trying to nickel and dime you. These resources were so helpful in expanding my client reach and finding higher-paying freelance projects.
Module 3: Build and Launch Your Online Business
I love that this module dives into the nitty-gritty of starting a business and important steps for establishing yourself as a freelancer. This module teaches you one of the most valuable pieces of information that no one talks about: how to price your services! It’s so crucial to charge what you’re worth, and this module helps you set the best hourly rate for yourself based on your services, experience and cost of living. I can’t emphasize enough how valuable this information is—it helped me charge what I’m worth and know which projects to quote on and which aren’t worth my time. This module is also helpful for setting client expectations and creating strong foundational relationships with your clients before you get to work on their projects.
Module 4: Find, Network and Land Clients
This module offers the critical next step of growing your business from freelancing platforms to a full-blown business. There is so much valuable information: ranging from creating service packages to building a website for your brand. This module is so helpful because it enables you to make the transition to higher-paying clients and gives you the skills you need to network and gain referrals. There are some really unique strategies in this section that I never would have thought to use to gain new clients, and they turned out to be so helpful!
Module 5: Running and Rockin’ Your Online Biz
This module is perfect for streamlining your business and learning new strategies to simplify your workload. There are great recommendations in here for project management software, streamlining your workflow, improving proposals, creating invoices, managing your finances, and other crucial steps for managing your business efficiently. This section truly enables you to feel more on top of your work and makes the business side of running a business a lot more painless.
Module 6: Run Your Biz and Jetset Around the World
If travel is one of your main reasons for wanting to start an online business, this will probably be your favorite module in the whole course! This is definitely the most enjoyable module: it helps you find digital nomad hot spots and the best places to work from remotely around the world.
I can’t emphasize enough how helpful this course is if you want to become a female business owner.
