As the weather is warming up, spring break is almost upon us! March and April are some of the best months for travel, and it can be a little overwhelming when trying to choose a destination. I’ve done the work for you and rounded up 10 of my favorite places for spring break. All of these destinations are places I’ve personally visited or lived in, and I can’t wait to share them with you! Each place has something unique to offer, a delicious food scene and plenty of natural beauty. Let’s dive in!
Tulum, Mexico
Tulum was my first destination abroad, and it makes the perfect trip for an international spring break. There are so many direct affordable flights to Cancun during March, and Tulum is only a short drive away. If you’re looking for beach time, a boho paradise, Mayan ruins, amazing tacos, and an eco-retreat away from it all, Tulum is ideal for a relaxing and restorative spring break. You can read all of my Tulum recs in my Tulum travel guide here.
Walt Disney World, Florida
Disney is always my go-to for spring break! The weather is usually dry and sunny, making it the perfect time to visit before summer storms. Don’t miss Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival during your visit: the whole park is in bloom with beautiful flowers and the food is to die for! You can view all my Flower & Garden food, topiary and garden recs here.
SXSW in Austin, Texas
As an Austin local, nothing says spring break like SXSW! This festival is a great time to see all that downtown Austin has to offer and attend some incredible concerts, movie premieres, art installations, interactive panels and more. You can learn all about the festival here and view my SXSW festival looks here.
Sarasota, Florida
Sarasota is home to some of the most beautiful white-sand beaches and an incredible aquarium, Mote Marine. When I lived in Sarasota, there was so much natural beauty and a wealth of places to explore. If you’re looking for a spring break with less crowded beaches, top museums, and lots of marine life, Sarasota may be the perfect destination for your trip.
Kauai, Hawaii
If you’re looking for a more remote Hawaiian retreat, Kauai is truly paradise. This island offers a more authentic and nature-oriented Hawaiian vacay with miles of cliffs, waterfalls and beaches along the coastline.
Augusta, Georgia
Sunshine, southern hospitality and the famous Master’s golf tournament in early April make Augusta the perfect spring break away from the beach. Augusta is home to some of the best gourmet dishes I’ve ever eaten—it’s truly a foodie’s paradise. South Carolina is conveniently just across the border if you’re looking to explore a little more of what the South has to offer.
Scottsdale, Arizona
If a desert oasis is more your speed, Scottsdale is world-renowned for its spa resorts and breathtaking natural beauty. I would honestly move to Scottsdale in a heartbeat—it’s home to so many incredible shopping and dining districts, stunning mountain views and southwestern flair. If you have a few extra days on your break, explore two of my other favorite Arizona destinations, Sedona and Tucson. You can read all of my Scottsdale recs for dining, spa resorts and hiking trails here.
Boca Grande, Florida
Boca Grande is one of the most beautiful under-the-radar places in Florida. This stunning island escape is just a short drive away from the Ft. Myers airport and is filled with the cutest restaurants, boutiques, beaches and quintessential “Old Florida” spots like the famous Gasparilla Inn.
Los Angeles, California
La La Land is the ultimate spring break destination. There’s an endless amount of places to explore here, from West Hollywood to Burbank to Venice. You can easily fit in beach time, incredible restaurants, museums, concerts, shopping, hiking and more. March is the perfect time to visit with lower crowds and milder temps. You can view my LA photography guide here for all the must-sees in the City of Angels.
Naples, Florida
This little slice of paradise on Florida’s southwestern coast is the ultimate low-key beach getaway. The crowds are significantly smaller here, the beaches are soft and powdery, the wildlife is stunning and the dining scene is so delicious. To this day, Naples is one of my favorite places in the world, and it makes the perfect girls spring break getaway.
