Disneyland is one of my favorite places to play in and photograph. Even though I’m a true Walt Disney World girl (even born in Orlando!), I fell in love with Disneyland’s timeless charm and the magic of its historical past. You really can’t go wrong taking pictures anywhere in Walt’s original park, but I rounded up a few of my favorites below for the perfect Disneyland Instagram shot. Here are a few classic locations for Disneyland photo ideas and some hidden gems that often get overlooked.
1. Partners Statue
It’s not a trip to Disneyland without snapping a pic in front of this classic statue honoring Walt’s legacy. Visit when the park opens to avoid people in your shots as this spot tends to be packed later in the day.
2. Sleeping Beauty Castle
The heart of Disneyland—Sleeping Beauty Castle. Not all castle angles are created equal. Try shooting from the sides of the castle for a dreamy shot without all the people in the background. My personal favorite angle is the east side of the castle with the owl statue from “Sleeping Beauty.” Enjoy the castle at it’s prettiest when lit up at night and decorated for the holidays. Visit during Christmastime for some extra special castle pics when it’s all decked out in garland and icicle lights!
3. Rivers of America
This is hand-down the most scenic area of the park. The Rivers of America is the perfect spot to watch the Mark Twain float
4. Haunted Mansion
No matter what time of year you visit, the Haunted Mansion is an iconic spot for your next Disneyland Instagram. The mansion is all spruced up from September—January for Haunted Mansion Holiday, giving it a little extra magic.
5. Big Thunder Trail
This is one of my favorite additions to Disneyland. I love the red rocks and tree-lined pathways with all the Wild West vibes. Make sure you stop by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at the end of the trail for a photo-op at the wildest ride in the wilderness!
6. Mad Tea Party/Alice in Wonderland Area
My favorite little corner of Disneyland! Snapping a pic on the Mad Tea Party teacups is my Disneyland tradition, and the photos always come out so cute! Make sure to explore the other areas of Wonderland like the Alice in Wonderland ride, Mad Hatter’s Shop and Cheshire Cat wall on your trip down the rabbit hole.
7. Meeting Characters on Main Street, U.S.A.
Main Street, U.S.A. is the perfect place to get classic Disneyland photos with your favorite characters! Most of the time, you can find the Fab Five here (Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy and Pluto) near the train station or firehouse. Bonus points if you visit during the holidays and snap the perfect Insta pic with Goofy in his Halloween costume (*swoons*).
