As my hometown and one of my
360 Bridge
360 (or Pennybacker) Bridge is my favorite bridge in Austin and has the best scenic lookout over Lake Austin. You can capture boats floating by with the Austin skyline in the background, or take your next Instagram pic with the iconic bridge behind you in the distance. There’s also another great vantage point below the bridge at a boat dock that makes for a beautiful view.
Lake Travis
I may be a little biased on this one because I’m from Lakeway, but Lake Travis is absolutely stunning. The best view by far is at the famous Oasis Restaurant overlooking the lake. Make sure to snag a table for sunset!
Mount Bonnell
Mount Bonnell is another iconic lookout point soaring 775 feet above Lake Austin. Its panoramic views of the rolling hills can’t be beat. Try to avoid the sunset crowds here by visiting in the morning or early afternoon.
Driskill Hotel
The Driskill is an Austin institution and one of the best photo spots in Austin for that “true Austin” vibe. Since its doors first opened in 1886 by cattle baron Colonel Driskill, this hotel has been cemented in Texas history as one of the finest hotels in Texas. The lobby makes for a gorgeous backdrop for photos. I also recommend grabbing brunch at the airy 1886 Cafe to snap a few pics and ordering a Texas-shaped waffle while you’re at it (you won’t regret it!).
Austin Public Library
The newest spot on my list but no less impressive, Austin Public Library is one of the most stunning photo spots in Austin. The staircase winds up the center of the lobby and makes for a great vantage point for capturing the modern and sleek aesthetic of the library. For panoramic views of the Austin skyline and Lady Bird Lake, head to the rooftop to grab that iconic Austin shot.
I can’t wait to share more of my Austin tips ranging from eats to a destination guide coming soon. What’s your favorite view of Austin? Let me know in the comments 😊
